What Are Permanent Mailboxes?
Permanent mailboxes are a new feature on MinuteMail that give you a @minutemail.xyz email address that never expires. Unlike our disposable inboxes (which self-destruct after 5–60 minutes), permanent mailboxes stick around forever. Every email sent to your permanent address lands in your inbox in real-time, just like a regular email provider — except with MinuteMail's privacy-first architecture.
Think of it as the best of both worlds: the privacy and simplicity of MinuteMail, with the permanence of Gmail or Outlook. No ads, no tracking, no data mining. Just an inbox that works.
Why Free and Unlimited?
We're offering permanent mailboxes completely free, with no limit on how many you can create. Here's why:
- Privacy shouldn't have a price tag. Charging for basic email privacy creates a two-tier internet where only people who can pay get to protect their data. That's not the internet we want.
- Email addresses are cheap to operate. Our infrastructure runs efficiently enough that offering unlimited mailboxes doesn't break the bank. We'd rather give them away and build a community.
- It drives adoption of privacy-first tools. The more people who use permanent MinuteMail addresses, the less personal data flows to companies that exploit it.
- No premium bait-and-switch. Other services give you one free address and charge for more. We give you unlimited. Period.
How It Works
Setting up a permanent mailbox takes about 10 seconds:
- Create a free MinuteMail account — Sign up with a username and password. That's the only info we need.
- Go to Dashboard → Permanent Mailboxes — Navigate to the permanent mailbox section in your dashboard.
- Choose your address — Pick any available username for your
@minutemail.xyzaddress. Something like[email protected]. - Start receiving emails — Your permanent inbox is live immediately. Emails arrive in real-time via WebSocket — no refresh needed.
You can create as many permanent addresses as you want. Each operates independently with its own inbox. There's no storage limit during our free launch period, and emails are retained until you choose to delete them.
Permanent vs Temporary — When to Use Each
MinuteMail now offers two types of inboxes. Here's when to use each:
Use Temporary (Disposable) Email When:
- You need a one-time signup or verification
- You want zero trace after the interaction
- You're testing something and don't need to receive future emails
- You want an anonymous inbox with no account required
- You're signing up for free trials, gated content, or random services
Use Permanent Mailboxes When:
- You want a long-term privacy-focused email address
- You need to receive password resets and account recovery emails
- You're signing up for accounts you plan to keep
- You want a secondary email that isn't connected to your real identity
- You need a persistent address for newsletters you actually read
- You want a professional-looking @minutemail.xyz address
Best Use Cases for Permanent Mailboxes
Secondary Email for Signups
Instead of using your personal Gmail for every new service, use a permanent MinuteMail address. If any service gets breached or starts spamming, your real email stays clean. You can create separate permanent addresses for different categories — one for shopping, one for social media, one for newsletters.
Privacy-First Communication
Share your @minutemail.xyz address instead of your real one when communicating with people or businesses you don't fully trust. Recruiters, online sellers, service providers — give them your permanent MinuteMail address and keep your real inbox private.
Developer & QA Testing
Developers need persistent test email addresses for integration testing, staging environments, and CI/CD pipelines. Create dedicated permanent addresses for each project or environment.
Freelancers & Side Projects
Need a professional-looking email for a side project without paying for Google Workspace? A permanent @minutemail.xyz address works for anything from freelance inquiries to project signups.
Anonymous Online Presence
Build an online presence that's completely disconnected from your personal identity. Use permanent mailboxes for forum accounts, social media, and any service where you want to separate your real identity from your online activity.
Privacy & Security
Permanent mailboxes inherit all of MinuteMail's privacy-first principles:
- Zero data mining — We don't read, analyze, or sell your emails. Ever.
- No tracking pixels — Our interface doesn't load remote images by default, blocking email tracking.
- No personal data required — We only need a username and password. No phone number, no recovery email, no real name.
- Encrypted storage — Emails are stored securely in our infrastructure and only accessible to you.
- You control deletion — Delete individual emails or entire mailboxes anytime. When you delete, it's permanent — no backups, no 30-day grace period.
